About Me

Smithsonian Folk-Legacy recording artist BOB ZENTZ is an award-winning singer, songwriter and songfinder, and multi-instrumentalist, now in his sixth decade of performing, with stops along the way including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and Virginia’s Legends of Music Walk of Fame. With his spouse, song historian JEANNE McDOUGALL ZENTZ, Bob co-founded the Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute in 2016 to help preserve roots and promote branches, in the belief that the future of our world depends upon our youth and music. Teaching Style

Very interactive and participatory -- all are welcome, all ages, all interests! Bob can teach dozens of folk instruments and talk about the development of folklife traditions from all over the world, and especially about how the many cultures that met in the watery world around eastern Virginia have blended together. Folk music is all about FOLK -- the people -- and Bob's trademark Homemade Music is just that -- people making music together with and for other people.
