About Me

I have experience teaching private lessons (all ages) as well as teaching with the local JAM program (Junior Appalachian Musicians). I have been an instructor at the Fingerlakes Grassroots Culture Camp in Ithaca NY. I have interned in my local school system as an Elementary Music teacher (Grades K-5). I am a college graduate with a minor in Traditional Music, while at school I studied flat-picking guitar, jazz bass, music theory, music history, flatfooting, etc. I am an award winning singer, guitarist, mandolinist, and my band was the recent runner up winner of the Floydfest On-the-Rise competition. I have also completed a VA Folklife apprenticeship in songwriting.
I have experience in many different genres of music: funk, bluegrass, folk, rock, jam, blues, swing, jazz, country, pop, hip hop, gospel, etc.

I worked for 2 and a half years in the Warren Willson College Sound Lab as a Studio Engineer. I primarily use Studio One for all of my recording. I produced a number of EPs through working in the WWC sound lab and am currently producing a rising artist's album, Casey Noel.

Teaching Style

When you signup to take a lesson with me, we will embark on an educational journey together. I intend to help mentor you in your learning process in order to benefit your development.
I encourage my students to present to me what they wish to learn. We will base your curriculum off of a mixture of what you want to learn and what I feel that you need to learn. I will also provide each student with a slowed-down/summarized video at the end of each lesson.
