The Blue Ridge Folklife Festival at Ferrum College celebrates the traditional crafts, music, foods, storytelling, horse handling skills, dog training skills, and moonshine folklore of southwestern Virginia. This festival features events and craftspeople not seen at other festivals (for example, a coffin maker from Russell County was quite the attraction this year, though some folks did not want to get too close).
Virginia Folklife Program photographer Pat Jarrett captures a few of the day’s highlights, including a post-festival jam at Twin Creeks Distillery.
