We are so excited to start doing live events again, and next month we’ll be partnering with our friends at JAMinc to host a unique evening of music with Sammy Shelor and Friends at the Barrel Room at Hardywood in Richmond on Thursday evening Dec. 2 from 6-9.
In addition to being a longtime friend and collaborator of the Virginia Folklife Program, Sammy has been performing with bluegrass bands Heights of Grass and the Virginia Squires, as well as leading the Lonesome River Band and winning the Steve Martin Banjo Prize ten years ago. Sammy also apprenticed Ashley Nale in the Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program.
This show will be a little bit of a departure for Sammy, performing electric with Jesse Smathers, Barry Collins and Rod Riley on the Telecaster, they’re calling it “Telegrass.” We know it’s going to be a fine night of music.
We can’t wait to see you all next month.
$15 advance / $20 at the door.
6:00 p.m. doors; 7:00 p.m. show.
We want this to be a safe experience for everyone. Holding this show at Hardywood allows for attendees to be seated further apart for social distancing purposes. All guests will be asked to show proof of full COVID vaccinations or a recent (48 hours) negative test and wear masks until seated. We will strictly follow whatever guidance from the CDC and Virginia Department of Health exists at the time of the event.
