Celebrating its fourteenth year, the Richmond Folk Festival has become the largest folk festival on the East Coast. Each year, the Virginia Folklife Program produces the much loved Virginia Folklife Area, featuring crafts and musicians from around the Commonwealth.

The Richmond Folk Festival features more than thirty performing groups on seven live music stages with continuous music and dance performances, along with children’s activities, a folk arts marketplace, regional and ethnic foods, and more. The FREE three-day festival is expected to be one of the largest events in Virginia, drawing visitors from across the country.

The Richmond Folk Festival is an offshoot of the National Folk Festival which has been held in 28 communities around the country and spent three years on downtown Richmond’s riverfront from 2005 through 2007.

The Virginia Folklife Program has been a producing partner since the Festival’s inception. Stay tuned for updates on the 2018 festival.
