Jesse McReynolds solo performance 'okechobee wind' Views:665

Jesse wrote this instrumental with Vassar Clements in the late 90's I think. Check out the pinky nail fretting single strings on his mandolin. A true pioneer in music. Jesse also played on a Doors record.

Herb Key and Wayne Henderson #2 Views:1272

The Ashe County Historical Society kicked off its 9th annual Family History Weekend in 2007 with a presentation of music by Herb Key and Wayne Henderson from Wilkes County. This included ballads, mountain music and historical songs from our area. Herb is well known in the Ashe/Wilkes area and plays and performs often with Wayne Henderson and others. Herb has been a part of the Elkville String Band which performed the music for the play Tom Dooley each time the Wilkes County Playmakers has performed this, playing in 2006 with the Kingston Trio. Wayne Henderson is well known for his skill at crafting guitars. The performance was given on Friday, April 20th, 2007 at the Ashe County Public Library in Jefferson, North Carolina. The event was sponsored by the Ashe County Historical Society, Lonnie Jones, Vice President. This video includes "Down Yonder" and "Steel Guitar Rag."
