This is a true story! I worked at the B.C. Vaughan plant as a teen-ager on a worker permit and again when I first came home from the Army. My mom worked there nearly 20 years.

(Also known locally as “Goin’ Around the World”)
This was a favorite of Uncle Enoch Rutherfords. Enoch fregquented the different conventions and was usually the winner of the banjo contest. He came from the Gold Hill community of Grayson County. Trish Kilby Fore was fortunate enough to spend some time with Enoch and she plays his banjo on this recording.

This is an old Carter number but I do it slightly
different than they did. The words and the meaning are the same however. I would like to dedicate this song to my mother, Brenda Bond, and thank her for all her love and prayers that brought her
wandering boy home again.

This song is often sang at the Round Knob Church of Christ near Hillsville, Virginia. My mother-in-law and all her family have been going there for
generations. It is sung from the old shape-note hymnal and without music, as they do not believe in music in the church.
